Are you looking for the best destination for outdoor adventures in Mallorca?
This article tells you more about some of the most exciting routes in Mallorca for hikers and cyclists who would like to explore the island and visit some of its most beautiful natural areas.
Mallorca is an ideal place for cycling or hiking due to the fact that it has such great weather almost all year round, a wide range of magnificent natural attractions, roads in very good condition and excellent infrastructure.
There are also so many places on the island where cyclists and hikers can find very scenic and quiet rural or secondary roads that invite you to explore the island.
Here are some of the best cycling routes in Mallorca that we recommend:
Sa Calobra – Torrent de Pareis
The small fishing village of Sa Calobra is famous for its stunning views, hairpin bends and the difficulty of the ascent. The route is only about 10 kilometres long, but it has an average gradient of 9%, making it one of the most iconic cycling routes in the world.
Puerto de Alcúdia – La Victoria
This is a fairly easy coastal route which is ideal for beginners. At the end of the route are some of the most iconic locations in the Alcúdia area, such as Aucanada and Mal Pas, as well as s’Illot, one of the few Mallorcan beaches that remain almost untouched and which is bathed by magnificent, crystal-clear waters. The route is about 35 kilometres long.
Puerto de Pollença – Cap de Formentor
The route leading to the Formentor Lighthouse is one of the most famous in Mallorca for cyclists. It’s about 20 kilometres from Puerto de Pollença to the Formentor peninsula, and the route offers some of the most spectacular views of the island.
Playa de Muro – Cala Sant Vicenç
This cycling route is quite easy and thus ideal for anyone aiming to start out in the world of cycling. It’s more like a simple bike ride along spectacular and very quiet paths that pass through s’Albufereta de Alcúdia.
Mallorca also has magnificent places to explore the island on foot, both inland and along the coast:
Excursion to Cala Bóquer
This is one of the best excursions around Puerto de Pollença and an easy hike that you can do with kids. Discover farms, limestone kilns, an unspoilt beach and the remains of one of the most important Talayotic settlements in Mallorca: Bocchoris.
Excursion to Torrent de Pareis
Torrent de Pareis is listed as one of the natural wonders of Mallorca and the hiking is some of the most exciting on the island, although it requires skill and experience as the terrain is
very difficult. The route covers about 7 kilometres in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, accompanied by cliffs and spectacular scenery until reaching the sea and a stunning beach.
Excursion in the Sierra de Albercutx
The Serra d’Albercutx is the best viewpoint for seeing Formentor and the Bay of Pollença. A tough hike with some sections that require technical skills, accompanied by beautiful scenery and a visit to the Colomer viewpoint, providing one of the best picture-postcard views of Mallorca.
Excursion to Alaró Castle
This excursion is one of the most popular on the island thanks to its spectacular views. It’s relatively easy to do with kids and has a number of different starting points, depending on the experience of the hikers and the distance you want to cover. The end of the route is a castle on a cliff, rising up 800 metres above the village of Alaró.
Without a shadow of a doubt, Mallorca is a natural paradise. It offers visitors an infinite number of routes to discover the beautiful scenery and natural attractions on the island.
